Our ten day Costa Rica Panama tour, February 2 - 11, quickly sold out  We have added a 10 day reverse tour running from Panama City, Panama to San Jose, Costa Rica, February 11 - 20.  Here are the details.  Note: Costa Rica is waiving the need for a health insurance travel policy to all who are fully vaccinated so at this point vaccinations are required to join this tour. The cost of the tour is $3,200 per couple or $2,000 for a single in a single room.

Sign up now here.

Costa Rica recently announced they will no longer require a health insurance policy (as of August 1, 2021) as long as you can show a completed vaccination card showing you've been vaccinated at least 14 days before your arrival into Costa Rica.

The tour is now confirmed, we’re going to run the tour from Panama to Costa Rica. February 11 - 20 If you want to join us after reading the details below, please submit your tour application via the link toward the end of this email. There are some important requirements for this upcoming tour, as a result of Covid19 so keep these requirements in mind if you plan to submit a tour application.  I’m requiring all who want to join the tour to be vaccinated. You must have a passport to travel outside the US and it can’t be expiring within 6 months of the arrival date per Costa Rican rules. You need no immunizations for either Costa Rica or Panama and no Covid test is required to enter Costa Rica, or Panama but your return to the US will require a negative Covid19 test.  We will facilitate these tests at the end of our tour but the cost of the actual tests are not included in the tour fee ($50 for rapid antigen, required for the US, and $85 (this price keeps changing) for a PCR test, required for Canada).

CURRENT Costa Rica requirements.  You need to fill out a health questionnaire online within the 72 hour period prior to arriving in Costa Rica. Anyone entering Costa Rica must complete the online “Health Pass” epidemiological form: https://salud.go.cr. Again this must be completed within 72 hours of your arrival to Costa Rica and you will be issued a QR code that you'll have to show on arrival.

The US is CURRENTLY requiring that vaccinated citizens returning to the US have a negative Covid19 test within 72 hours of arrival back to the US, even those who can prove they are fully vaccinated. Getting this test in San Jose is easy but again at your expense and roughly $50 per person. I will arrange for our group to get tested, so unless you plan to stay longer in after the tour ends, (I offer a discount rate at our hotel of $80 per night for anyone who wants to stay longer) but your Covid test to enter the USA will still be required and we won’t be transporting you to a test site if you stay longer. It is pretty easy in San Jose to get that test and to handle on your own.

  1. I typically don’t run anyone’s credit card until 30 days before the tour but for this tour, I am going to collect half the tour fee 45 days out, with the balance collected two weeks before the tour date. Cancellations 14 days or less will incur a fee of 50% of the tour fee (the deposit). Cancellations less than a week out will incur a cancellation fee of 75% of the tour fee. I have to book and pay for most of the hotels we use months in advance, so cancellations have a real cost and keep others who were interested in joining the tour from being able to do so. This tour will be sold out and expect roughly 16 people on the tour, plus the driver

For those who are on this tour, you’ll need to book a flight into Panama City, Panama )PTY airport code) to arrive anytime on the 11th of December (or earlier) The only event that day is a cocktail party at the hotel that night. Dinner is not included on that first night but the hotel  has a nice restaurant and there are plenty of other options nearby. If you arrive early on the 11th, there’s plenty to see within walking distance of the hotel we stay at in Panama City.

You’ll need a flight departing San Jose, Costa Rica (airport code SJO) on (or after) the 20th of February or later.  Drive time from the Hotel Martino to the international airport is roughly 20 minutes. You need to check-in for your flight 2 hours before departure, so based on your plan, you’ll need to watch the time. I provide airport transportation for your departure trip to the airport, if you plan to depart on the 20th.

The trip is $3,200 for a couple or $2,000 for a single in a private room. We have had singles share a room before to bring the cost to $1,500 so let me know if you are interested in sharing a room and I’ll facilitate attempting to find a match for you. Nearly all meals are included, but not beer, wine, or liquor. All lodging, transportation (other than airfare), and activity/entrance fees are included in the tour fee. We have the same driver each day, who takes great care of us, so if you like the tour, please tip the driver. He’s great and not paid well by the transportation company I contract with. I cover all other gratuities, other than any tip you want to leave your housekeeper in the rooms in the various hotels we stay at.

You can see a sample itinerary for the tour here as well as sign up for the tour again if you are still interested, given the additional requirements listed above Costa Rica Panama Tour (pacificlots.com) Please confirm back if you want to join this tour even if you’ve recently submitted an application.

The tour includes all entry fees, all transportation within Costa Rica and Panama, all lodging, nearly all meals except if you want to eat on your own and on the day of your arrival at the Hotel Martino, where meals are on your own. Otherwise all meals are included, all national park fees and even airport transfers.  For other tour dates, use this for a reference.  Hotel choices may change based on availability since Covid19 has set some limits that we have to comply to.

These tours are mostly about tourism but we do see a smattering of real estate offerings in some of the more sought out destinations in both Costa Rica and Panama.  Keep in mind however that the majority of the tour is simply tourism, with a few quick real estate viewings while in Jaco and Ojochal, Costa Rica and Panama City, Panama.  We can add or subtract real estate touring based on interest by the group.
